| Reverse description | Central field features the crowned heraldic shield of Montefeltro — a party per fess shield with diagonal barry lines — set within a beaded inner circle. The shield is surmounted by a princely crown, as befitting the ducal dignity of Oddantonio da Montefeltro. The marginal legend, in uncial Latin, reads ODDANNTIONIVS DVX, identifying the issuing ruler as Oddantonio, Duke of Urbino, the sole Duke of Urbino of this name, who reigned briefly from 1443 until his assassination in 1444. The coin's fabric is thin and uneven, with characteristic flat striking and surface porosity typical of base billon hammered issues of the period. |
