Obverse description Central field displays the arms of the Free City of Regensburg — a divided shield bearing the civic heraldic device — set within an ornate baroque cartouche with scrollwork and foliate embellishments. The design fills the flan with no surrounding legend, characteristic of small-denomination Pfennig coinage of the period. The die-work reflects the late Renaissance decorative style prevalent in southern German municipal coinage of the late sixteenth century.
