Additional information

Ottokar II held Styria from 1260 following the Treaty of Vienna, which partitioned the Babenberg inheritance between Bohemia and Hungary after the male Babenberg line died out in 1246. His Graz mint produced bracteate-style pfennigs as part of a broader effort to consolidate monetary administration across his expanding territorial holdings — Bohemia, Moravia, Austria, and Styria at his peak. The issues ceased when Rudolf of Habsburg defeated and killed Ottokar at the Battle on the Marchfeld in 1278, after which Styrian minting passed to Habsburg control.
