Obverse description Full-length frontal effigy of a standing bishop, robed in ecclesiastical vestments, holding a crozier in his right hand and a book in his left. The figure is rendered in the flat, stylized manner typical of early 13th-century Austrian bracteate-influenced coinage. Additional information

Henry IV of Istria and Carniola issued these bracteate-style pfennigs during a period when the March was caught between competing imperial and Venetian pressures along the Adriatic hinterland. The Gutenwerth mint — on an island in the Wörthersee — was one of the few active striking facilities in the region, and its output during this window represents nearly the entire surviving coinage attributable to Henry's march.

The CNA Cj3 attribution places this firmly within Castelin's typology for the region, a reference that remains the primary authority for Carinthian and Carniolan issues of this period.
