Additional information

Struck under Bernhard von Spanheim, Duke of Carinthia, during a period when the duchy was minting bracteate-style pfennigs across its eastern Alpine territories. The Gutenwerth issues take their name from the island mint on the Wörthersee — one of the few lacustrine mint sites documented in medieval Central European numismatics.
