| Obverse description | Facing left bust of a bishop in liturgical vestments and miter, rendered in a stylized Romanesque manner characteristic of early 14th-century episcopal coinage. Flanking the bishop's bust on either side are schematic church towers, each surmounted by a cross, representing the Cathedral of Basel. The design occupies the entire flan with no surrounding legend, the figural elements filling the available field. |
