Additional information

Albrecht II — "the Lame" — ruled Austria for nearly three decades despite a paralytic condition that confined him largely to Vienna after 1330. His long, stable reign produced a substantial and relatively consistent coinage, which makes die varieties within this pfennig series more attributable than most contemporary Austrian issues. The CNA B 255 classification distinguishes this type within a broader family of Viennese bracteate-influenced pfennigs that circulated heavily through the Danube trade corridor.
