Obverse description Two confronted dragons facing one another within a beaded or dotted border, their bodies rendered in low relief with stylized wings and tails; a small rosette or multifoil ornament occupies the central field between the two creatures. The design is characteristic of the Styrian bracteate tradition, executed in the rough, expressive style typical of late 13th- to early 14th-century Austrian hammered coinage.
