| Obverse description | The municipal arms of Fribourg — a tower — displayed within a beaded or linear circle occupying the central field of the coin. The shield bearing the tower device is rendered in the Gothic heraldic style typical of Swiss cantonal coinage of the sixteenth century. The surrounding circular border frames the armorial design and separates it from the peripheral legend. The coin is struck on an irregular flan consistent with hammered production of the period. |
