| Obverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, a stylized city gateway depicted in frontal view, its arch surmounted by an open compass — the heraldic emblem of the Campofregoso family. The gateway is rendered in the crude, angular style characteristic of medieval Genoese hammered coinage. A circular legend in Latin uncial characters surrounds the central device, identifying the issuing doge and his ordinal number among the doges of Genoa. |
