Obverse description Laureate head of Apollo facing left, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with long wavy hair swept back and bound with a laurel wreath, the strands falling in detailed locks behind the neck. The facial features are delicately modeled with a straight nose, subtly parted lips, and a refined classical profile characteristic of late Sicilian Greek coinage. A lyre, the attribute of Apollo, is depicted in the field behind the head. The portrait displays the accomplished die-cutting tradition of the Mamertine mint, reflecting strong Syracusan artistic influence.
