| Obverse description | Facing head of Athena rendered in archaic style, depicted full face with large almond-shaped eyes, broad nose, and faint traces of a beaded necklace at the neck. The hair is parted centrally and falls in thick, stylized locks to either side of the face, framed by the cheek-guards of a Corinthian helmet pushed back on the head. The bold, slightly schematic modeling is characteristic of mid-fifth century BC Peloponnesian die-cutting, with the entire type occupying the full flan within a plain circular border. |

| Reverse description | Upright trident, tines pointing upward, centered within a shallow incuse square that forms the principal frame of the design. The shaft of the trident is flanked by the retrograde ethnic inscription TPO, identifying the issuing city of Troezen, with letters disposed in the field to the right of the shaft. Three small pellets or globules are visible at the base of the shaft, a decorative detail common to Troezenian coinage of this period. The incuse technique and linear border reflect standard Archaic-to-Classical Greek reverse treatment. |
