| Reverse description | Athena depicted standing in full figure, facing left, helmeted and clad in a long chiton with aegis visible on her chest. She extends her right hand forward to present a small owl, while her left hand holds an upright spear resting against her shoulder. The denomination numeral E (denoting five assaria) is placed in the mid-right field beside the figure. The encircling Greek legend, naming the governor Pontianus and the city of Marcianopolis, runs around the periphery of the coin. |
