Obverse description Confronted busts of Gordian III and Tranquillina facing one another: to the right, the laureate and draped bust of Emperor Gordian III; to the left, the diademed and draped bust of Empress Tranquillina. A small dot is positioned in the field between the two effigies. The Greek imperial titulature of both rulers runs continuously around the periphery as the obverse legend.
