Obverse description Facing tonsured bust of Archbishop Wulfred depicted in a stylised, frontal ecclesiastical portrait style, the figure extending to the coin's edge with shoulders rendered in a broad, flat manner typical of Anglo-Saxon hammered coinage. The face is rendered with bold, simplified features including clearly defined eyes and a tonsured crown, characteristic of Group III Canterbury archiepiscopal issues. A beaded or pellet border frames the design. The circumferential legend, reading clockwise, is composed of bold uncial letterforms and encircles the bust within the coin's field.
