Reverse description The reverse presents a highly decorative design composed of four interlaced circular or curvilinear compartments arranged around a central cross motif with pellets at the angles, a hallmark of the Canterbury mint's output during Offa's light coinage period. Each quadrant encloses letters or ligatures forming the moneyer's name, distributed across the four sections in a manner consistent with Anglo-Saxon epigraphic convention. The entire composition is enclosed within a beaded outer border. The bold, interlaced execution reflects the Insular artistic tradition and the accomplished die-work associated with the Canterbury scriptorium-influenced workshop.
