Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of Harold II in profile, wearing a decorated crown with jewelled finials. The bust is unadorned and lacks a sceptre, consistent with this variety. A pellet is visible to the right of the bust. The circumferential Latin legend reads + HAROLD REX ANGL, separated by a beaded inner circle from the central effigy.

Reverse description The word PAX, meaning 'peace', appears prominently in the centre of the field within a panel formed by two horizontal lines, executed in bold angular Anglo-Saxon letterforms. The design is characteristic of the single type issued during Harold II's brief reign in 1066. The surrounding field is filled with a trefoil or leaf ornament pattern within the inner circle, and the outer border consists of a beaded ring enclosed by the coin's irregular edge.
