Reverse description A vigorous right-bounding kangaroo occupies the central field, rendered in fine relief by George Kruger Gray, whose initials 'KG' appear to the lower left of the design. The legend 'AUSTRALIA' arcs across the upper field, while 'HALF PENNY' curves along the lower periphery, with the date interposed between the two words. A small Commonwealth star appears to the right of the kangaroo. The design is enclosed within a toothed inner border and an outer raised rim.
