Obverse description Diademed bust of King Eadgar facing left, rendered in the characteristically linear Anglo-Saxon style, with a small pellet ornament at the ear. The royal effigy is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. A Latin legend reading the king's name and title runs clockwise around the periphery between the inner beaded circle and the outer beaded border.
