Reverse description Central motif of a small cross pattée with flared arms, surrounded by two pellets in the field, all set within a raised inner circle. A circular Latin legend runs around the periphery outside the inner circle, reading the moneyer's name CVNNETTI, rendered in the characteristic angular lettering of Viking-Age York. Pellets and decorative stops punctuate the legend, consistent with Anglo-Scandinavian penny production of the early tenth century. The overall execution is typical of hammered coinage of this period, with slight irregularities in flan shape and strike.
