| Reverse description | A prominent cross moline occupies the center of the field, its arms terminating in elegant curving bifurcations characteristic of the Ornamented type. A lis (fleur-de-lis) is placed in each of the four quarters formed by the cross. The design is bold and decorative, consistent with the distinctive artistic treatment of the Civil War period issues. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central motif within a beaded border, with a quatrefoil stop and triple pellet stops punctuating the moneyer and mint inscription. |
