| Obverse description | A small cross pattée set within a raised inner circle occupies the central field. Surrounding the inner circle, the ruler's title is rendered in Latin legend reading clockwise, separated by pellets, in the angular lettering characteristic of late Viking-Age Anglo-Scandinavian coinage. The design is typical of the Two-Line type adapted for Viking York, with no portrait of the ruler, reflecting Scandinavian numismatic convention of the period. |
