| Obverse description | Central field features a large barred letter A enclosed within a beaded inner circle, rendered in bold angular relief characteristic of early Anglo-Saxon die-cutting. The A motif is flanked by subsidiary letters forming part of the ruler's name. A Latin legend reading the king's name encircles the inner circle, running clockwise around the outer field.
