| Reverse description | Central field displays the Burgundian arms — a quartered shield combining the arms of Burgundy ancient and modern — superimposed upon a cross pattee whose arms extend to and intersect the surrounding peripheral legend. The design is characteristic of the small billon coinage of the Burgundian Netherlands under Philip the Handsome's regency, with lettering interrupted by the terminals of the cross. The flan is irregular and the relief is low throughout, consistent with hammered production. |
