| Obverse description | This reverse trial piece features the design engraved by George Kruger Gray, presenting a central motif of three wheat sheaves bound together at the base and rising vertically within the field. The date 1937 is divided across the left and right fields, flanking the central device. The legend AUSTRALIA arcs across the upper periphery, while THREE PENCE curves along the lower periphery, all in bold serif lettering. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner border and a raised outer rim. As a reverse trial piece, this face bears the intended reverse design of the proposed Australian threepence coinage prepared during the brief reign of Edward VIII. |

| Reverse description | The reverse of this trial piece presents a completely blank, uniface field with no devices, legends, or inscriptions of any kind. The surface displays concentric circular tool marks consistent with a plain planchet or an unworked die face, enclosed within a raised outer rim and a beaded border. This absence of design is characteristic of a reverse trial striking, in which only one face carries the intended design for evaluation purposes. |
