Obverse description Facing bust of King Kavadh I, rendered in a decorative frontal style typical of late Sasanian copper coinage. The king wears earrings and an elaborate crown surmounted by a globe or korymbos and a crescent. The effigy is presented in a hieratic, stylized manner characteristic of Sasanian royal iconography, with the face turned slightly to the right. A Pahlavi inscription in the field reads 'May Kavat be prosperous.'
