Obverse description Draped bust of Hormizd II (Hormazd II) facing left, an orientation noted as very rare for this type. The king is depicted with a distinctly beaded beard rendered in the characteristic Sasanian artistic convention, and wears the eagle crown surmounted by a korymbos — the globular hair bundle enclosed in a fabric covering — emblematic of royal Sasanian iconography. A dotted border encircles the design field. Inscriptional Pahlavi legends appear in the field flanking the royal effigy.
