| Obverse description | Bust of Ardashir I facing right, wearing the distinctive Parthian-style tiara with elaborate stepped crown and long ribbons or crest rising from the top. The king is depicted bearded with draped shoulders, in the early Sasanian artistic tradition. An Inscriptional Pahlavi legend encircles the effigy within a beaded border, partially legible on this irregularly struck flan. |
