Reverse description Central motif consists of a bold foliated cross, with each arm terminating in trefoil or floral flourishes, set within a beaded inner circle. The four quadrants formed by the arms of the cross are each decorated with foliate ornaments, lending the design an elaborate Gothic character consistent with late Capetian coin art. The flan is irregular in outline, as expected for a hammered billon denier of this period. The relief is moderately struck, with typical die wear and flan irregularities visible on this circulated specimen.
