Reverse description The reverse bears a three-line Arabic inscription arranged within the central field, reading 'ضرب / مختارة / ١٢٢x', indicating the mint name Mukhtara and a partial AH date in the 1220s hijri decade. The inscription is struck in bold relief in the characteristic angular style of provincial Ottoman hammered issues. The word 'ضرب' (meaning 'struck') appears in the upper register, 'مختارة' (Mukhtara) in the middle, and the partial date below. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, consistent with the hammered technique employed at this local Druze emirate mint.
