Obverse description The seal of Oslo depicted in high relief at centre: St. Hallvard seated facing, holding a millstone in his left hand and arrows in his right, with a reclining female figure below and animal heads and stars in the field. The seal is encircled by a beaded border and the Latin legend, surmounted by a mural crown. The legend '⸰ OSLO ⸰' and '1000 ÅR' appear in the lower field between the seal and the raised rim.
