Additional information

August III died in October 1763, making this one of the final issues of his 30-year reign over Poland — a reign he spent largely in Dresden, delegating Polish affairs to the Czartoryski and Brühl factions while the Commonwealth's political machinery ground toward paralysis. The Elbląg mint, operating under municipal authority in a city that had only been returned to Poland from Prussian occupation in 1772, produced orts in relatively small runs by this period.

Kopicki references 7189–7191 indicate documented die variants for this type, worth examining carefully at the reverse junction points.
