| Reverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, a standing Frisian farmer is depicted in profile, holding a sword upright over his shoulder, flanked by the initials F and O (standing for Frisiae Ordines, i.e. the Estates of Friesland), one on each side of the figure. The rustic figure is rendered in the characteristic naive style of hammered provincial coinage. The surrounding outer legend is separated from the central device by the beaded border. The overall design conveys the provincial identity and autonomy of the Frisian Estates during the Dutch Republic period. |
