Obverse description The second-type tughra of Sultan Selim III occupies the central field, rendered in the elaborate calligraphic style characteristic of late 18th-century Ottoman coinage, with the characteristic sülüs script forming the imperial monogram. A small floral ornament (gül) is positioned to the right of the tughra in the upper field. The entire design is enclosed within a raised beaded border encircling the coin's periphery. The flat field surrounding the tughra shows the typical granular surface texture of billon coinage of this period.

Reverse description The reverse bears a three-line Arabic legend in the central field reading the mint name 'Islambol' (Istanbul) with the word 'zarb' (struck/minted) above, and the accession year 1203 AH at the base. The regnal year numeral appears at the top of the field above the main legend, indicating the year of reign within Selim III's sultanate. The inscription is executed in bold, legible naskh script. The entire reverse design is framed by a prominent raised beaded border matching that of the obverse.
