Obverse description Wreathed head of Persephone facing right, her flowing hair bound with a grain wreath and adorned with an earring, rendered in fine Syracusan style. A thunderbolt symbol appears to the left in the field. The portrait exhibits the characteristic high relief and naturalistic modeling associated with the great die engravers of Syracuse, with delicately rendered curling locks falling about the neck and shoulder.
