Obverse description Griffin seated to right in profile, with eagle's head, raised forepaw, and elaborately rendered feathered wings curling upward above its back. The creature is depicted with great archaic vitality, its musculature carefully articulated. To the right of the griffin's haunches, the letter M (initial of the issuing magistrate or city ethnic) appears in the field. The flan is broad and irregular, characteristic of early Thracian silver coinage.

Reverse description Deep quadripartite incuse square divided into four rectangular compartments by a raised cross, with alternating recessed and raised sections creating a windmill or mill-sail pattern. The incuse is boldly struck and sharply defined, consistent with early fifth-century BC archaic coinage technique from the Thracian coastal mints. The flan edges are rough and uneven, reflecting hand-cut preparation of the silver blank.
