Obverse description Griffin seated left in profile, the right forepaw raised in a characteristic archaic pose. The finely rendered creature displays the characteristic leonine body and avian features typical of early Thracian coinage. Small pellets flank the figure in the field, with a rosette device positioned to the left. The composition is rendered in bold, high relief characteristic of early Archaic Greek coinage from the northern Aegean region.

Reverse description Deep quadripartite incuse square divided into four recessed compartments by raised intersecting bars, forming a mill-sail or swastika-like pattern within the sunken square. The incuse is boldly struck with rough, uneven surfaces typical of early Archaic hammered coinage from the Thraco-Macedonian region, reflecting the primitive punch technique employed prior to the introduction of reverse types. The overall impression is that of a vigorous, deeply impressed geometric design.
