| Reverse description | Within a deep quadripartite incuse square, a four-spoked wheel with a central hub is rendered in raised relief at the center of the die. The retrograde Greek legend ΓΙΤΑ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΕΔΟΝΕΩΝ, reading as 'Getas, King of the Edoni,' is distributed in retrograde characters across the four sections of the incuse square, one segment per quadrant. The incuse technique, typical of early fifth-century BC Thraco-Macedonian coinage, produces a strongly sunken field contrasting with the raised central wheel motif. The lettering is clearly articulated in the archaic Greek alphabet. |
