| Obverse description | Facing lion scalp depicted frontally in high relief, the mane rendered with fine radiating striations framing the boldly modelled visage. The powerful feline features — including wide-set eyes, broad nose, and slightly open jaws — are rendered with considerable sculptural depth characteristic of Samian coinage of this period. The entire design is contained within a border of raised beads, which frames the type neatly against the flat field. |

| Reverse description | Forepart of a bull advancing to the right, rendered in vigorous relief with musculature carefully articulated; the animal's head is turned slightly, with horns clearly visible. A krater appears in the lower left field and an olive spray in the lower right field, both serving as Samian civic symbols. The Greek ethnic legend ΣΑΜΙΩΝ is inscribed in the upper field in clear, well-formed archaic Greek letters, identifying the issuing city-state of Samos. |
