| Obverse description | Griffin seated to left in archaic style, the right forepaw raised and the beak open, displaying finely engraved feathered wings spread upward along the body. Six pellets are distributed around the creature in the field, serving as control marks. The initial letter Alpha (A) of the city ethnic appears in the lower left field. The design is rendered in high relief with bold, confident archaistic workmanship characteristic of early Thracian coinage. |
