| Obverse description | Effigy of Yazdgard I facing right, depicted with a mural crown surmounted by a frontal crescent and korymbos, rendered in the characteristic late Sasanian royal portrait style. The bust is shown in profile with detailed facial features typical of early fifth-century Sasanian die engraving. Two Pahlavi letters, transcribed as 'a p', appear to the right of the royal effigy in the field. The design is contained within an irregular flan consistent with hammered coinage of the period. |
