Obverse description Bare head of Emperor Tiberius facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic portrait tradition characteristic of Alexandrian civic coinage. The effigy displays finely engraved hair with short, layered strands swept forward over the brow. The portrait is set within a plain, irregular field with no surrounding legend on this face, the likeness conveying imperial authority in a provincial Egyptian style.

Reverse description A hippopotamus advancing to the right, depicted in profile with characteristic broad muzzle, stocky body, and short legs rendered in the local Alexandrian artistic convention that reflects Egypt's Nilotic fauna. Above the animal, the partial Greek legend ΤΙΒΕΡΙΟΥ arches across the upper field, identifying the reigning emperor. Below or to the side, the regnal year date LΕ (Year 5) appears, anchoring the issue to the fifth year of Tiberius's reign in the Egyptian calendar.
