Obverse lettering TETIABDVS CM I
(Translation: Famous count Theobald.)
Reverse description Central field bears a plain cross pattée within a beaded inner circle, dividing the field into four equal quarters. The surrounding circular legend, in crude Carolingian lettering, reads BALCHTI CIVIA, identifying the mint city of Beaugency. The execution is typical of provincial feudal hammered coinage of the Capetian era, with uneven letter spacing and a somewhat irregular flan edge.
