| Additional information |
The Duchy of Teschen occupied an awkward political position in the 1590s — nominally a Habsburg fief within the Bohemian Crown, yet administered with considerable autonomy under Archduchess Sidonie Katharina following her husband's death. This obol is among the smallest denominations she issued, a fractional piece produced more from monetary obligation than practical demand. Teschen's coinage output under her name was limited and short-lived, making survivors in any condition scarce.
