| Obverse description | Facing right, the youthful head of Herakles is depicted wearing the Nemean lion skin headdress, rendered in the Lysippan tradition associated with the Alexandrine coinage. The type follows the posthumous issues struck in the name of Alexander III of Macedon under the authority of Seleukos I Nicator. The modeling of the facial features is characteristic of the late 4th century BCE Macedonian die-cutting tradition, with the lion's scalp tied beneath the chin framing the portrait. |
