| Reverse description | Central design consists of three pellets or annulets arranged horizontally within a beaded inner circle, a distinctive emblem associated with the mint of Béziers. Above the central device, a small raised element—likely a cross or pellet—is visible at the apex of the inner circle. The encircling Latin legend BITERIS CIV E O O B, partially struck and distributed around the outer field, identifies the city of Béziers as the issuing authority. The composition and arrangement of the annulets are a hallmark of Biterrois feudal coinage of the early 12th century. The flan is irregular and the strike uneven, consistent with the hammered technique of the era. |
