| Obverse description | Four-line uncial inscription arranged horizontally across the field, reading the name of the issuing duke. The legend is divided into two registers separated by a horizontal line, with the letters of RICARDVS distributed across the flan in a crude but characteristic Aquitainian hammered style. The coin exhibits the irregular, slightly concave flan typical of twelfth-century feudal billon issues, with the lettering occupying virtually the entire obverse field. |
