Reverse description Central field displays a cross pattee set within a raised inner circle, with the arms of the cross extending to the inner ring. The surrounding circular legend reads PECTAVO (Poitiers) in Carolingian capital letters, preceded by a small cross stop, distributed around the periphery of the coin. The flan is irregularly shaped with a notable chip, typical of hand-struck Carolingian silver. The overall execution is characteristic of the Poitiers mint workshop of the mid-9th century.
