Obverse description Right-facing bust of Narseh, King of Kings, rendered in the Sasanian court style. The king wears a distinctive fluted diadem surmounted by a globe and adorned with three palmette ornaments, with ribbon ends flowing outward from the sides. His hair is dressed in twisted plaits falling to the shoulders, and he bears a full beard with an upturned moustache. Royal adornments include a double-bead earring and a beaded necklace. The portrait is executed in the characteristic high-relief hammered style of early Sasanian coinage.
