Reverse description The enthroned Madonna seated facing, holding the Christ Child on her left arm, depicted in a frontal hieratic pose typical of late medieval Hungarian coinage. The mintmark of the issuing mint appears on either side of the central figure, dividing the field. The image is struck in low relief with the bold, somewhat schematic style characteristic of hammered Hungarian obols of this period. A lily-form mintmark is visible to the right of the Madonna in this variety (ÉH577b).
